 Sound Research

Sounds in Shots

After researching sound design I have thought about some sounds I would like to implement into my short film. One shot I have in mind is when the main character is getting into their car. It will be a mid shot of the car then the character enters the car and slams the door. I want to recreate the sound of the door to be loud and deep. This noise will allow viewers to feel the character's emotions and anger. Another sound I would like to have is when the main character's mother knocks on the door. I want that to be a light and gentle knock so viewers can hear that their mother is sweet and gentle. In the same shot, I would like to record the sound of the mother telling her son to get ready for school.

My Wants From The Audience

When it comes to my viewers I want them to be able to feel and understand the emotions of the main character. My goal is to have the audience understand why the main character dislikes school, but I want them to watch the character grow and change. As the main character grows and realizes that high school is more than just going to school, I want viewers to see his process of feeling these wide arrays of emotions. Hopefully, I can impact the viewers and tell a life-changing short film.

Reflecting on Sound Research

Researching sound design has opened new options and new filming methods. I never know that sounds have such an impact on a film and how important it is to focus on all aspects of the film. Researching sound design has helped me understand the process of creating, and adding sounds within your film.
