Ideas and Character Types
In my short film, I will have an array of character types. The main protagonist is the main character, I'm not sure what their name will be but I think I will use their real name. Throughout the whole story, tertiary characters will be used in the background as classmates. As I continue to write my script I will be adding a confidant character, they will be the main character's best friend and will help them later in the story. I want the best friend to help the main character realize that high school is about having fun, making new friends, and enjoying being a kid before it's too late.
I have been brainstorming where I would like the setting of different shots. I know for a fact that one shot will be in the main character's bedroom (my bedroom). I want to have an establishing shot of the main character waking up and turning their alarm clock off. Then an extreme close-up of the phone and then the main character turning off. Another setting I have in mind is a classroom. I'm not sure what shot I want to shoot there but as I continue to write I will come up with something. The last setting I know that I will have in my film is the main character's car (my car). I would like to have some shots of them driving the car and listing to music and bonding with friends. I also want shots of just the main character driving, I plan on having mid-shots of them driving I want it to be a moment where we can see why the main character hates school.
