Final Project - Post #1

The Cycle

 My opening sequence for my final project is something I have been thinking about for some time now. I have a good idea of what I want to film, and the genre of my opening sequence will be. My will final project will be a Film Noir and the title of my project is "The Cycle". I have decided on this name because it will be about a high schooler who is stuck in this endless cycle of waking up, going to school, coming home doing homework, and then it repeats itself. The main character wakes up and each day is the same as the last. The main character feels trapped in what feels like this endless cycle of school and homework.  

 I came up with the idea for this short film because I can relate to the main character. As a senior in high school, I have become tired of school. I wake up, go to school, come home, and do my homework. I remember when I was younger that I always stressed about school. I always wanted to be the best, I always wanted to get my work done on time. I even used to be a straight A student in middle school and now my drive to have straight A’s have completely diminished. The only reason I try into school is, so I don’t regret it in the future. I get so annoyed with everyone around me now, I used to talk to random people in school, but now I just want to be left alone. I'm not sure why, but I’ve become annoyed with people that I don’t know. I hate walking in the halls with kids I don’t know, and I put in my headphones and listen to music so no one will talk to me. The main character in my film is just like me, they are just trying to get by without anyone bothering them. They just want to be done with school, but they feel as if they are stuck and have to take classes that won’t help them in the future. I want the main character to portray me and how I feel about school.  

My Inspiration

My inspiration for my final project was two movies. These two movies are “Groundhog Day” and “Edge of Tomorrow”. These movies are about two main characters that are stuck in a cycle, and they are stuck in the same day. The only way they get out of this never-ending cycle is if they come to the realization of what their purpose is. My main character will be stuck in this never-ending cycle until they realize that school isn’t just about going to school, coming home and doing homework, but it's about learning about yourself and enjoying the memories you make in high school because you never have the same experience again. 

Tentative Timeline

12/11/22 - 1/1/22: Work on storyboard, brainstorm ideas for set, setting, props, and actors.

1/2/22 - 1/31/22: Preproduction of film, which includes Scriptwriting and casting actors.

2/6/22 - 2/20/22: Filming and Production of my opening sequence "The Cycle" 

2/22/22 - 3/8/33: The postproduction, this includes editing, and going over audio.
